On the 19th of November three firefighters from Rural Fire Service came to the year five classroom for a visit to tell us all about bushfires and what areas they cover, how to prevent them and they also showed us their truck.
They told us that lightning is the most common from their experience and can cause big fires, they told us that the cigarettes thrown into the land is very serious as well.
They took us for a look in the truck and split us into three groups. One group had a turn using the hose, another group climbing in the truck and on to the driver’s seat and the last one explaining the materials.
It was lots of fun and they rotated groups around so we all got a turn of each!
